St. Joseph’s Central School had its inception in the 2004 under the President-ship of His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Antony Vazhapilly and the then Secretary of the Mysore Diocesan Educational Society Rev. Fr. Raphael. M. Colaco. It began with class I in the Vijayanagar premises under the Principal Mrs. Joyce Lobo. As the number of students began to increase expansion became inevitable, therefore the Mysore Diocesan Educational Society took cognizance of the need to start an institution at Yelwal. On 1st September 2006, the school started functioning from its present location under the Principal- in-charge Mrs. Dorothy Coates. April 2007 saw Mrs. Gladys Jaichander taking over as the Principal at St Joseph’s Central School Yelwal. The year 2009 brought a new Educationist The Hon’able Secretary Rev. Dr. Thomas Becket D’Souza. The school has grown exponentially. The completion of the 1st floor, well ventilated class rooms with Digital Boards, Bulletin Boards, comfortable furniture makes learning a joyful experience. The next Secretary Rev. Fr. K A William added another floor and a beautiful façade to the already majestic structure. He is now the President of the parent society MDES and also the Bishop of Mysore. It is under his patronage that the school has grown in leaps and bounds. The present Secretary Rev. Fr. Vijay Kumar has added hues and shades and a whole lot of green to the already colourful palette of St. Joseph’s environment. The hub of the school is its teachers well – qualified and professional staff. The school is affiliated upto the senior secondary level.

St. Joseph’s Nursery School was started in the year 2016 with an aim of producing useful and enlightened citizens where quality education would work as a powerful instrument of social change. This is achieved in the fulfillment of its objectives for which the institution has been founded. Though the school is primarily meant for Christian students, it has welcomed into its portal, students from every section of society without any discrimination of caste, creed or religion or social status and thereby promoting a spirit of fellowship, brotherhood and a universal family.
